Person-Centred Therapy in Manchester City Centre

Discreet, sensitive, and dignifying therapy tailored for discerning individuals and couples seeking an elevated space for authentic growth and healing.

Approach

During our sessions together I will welcome all of who you are into the room without judgement – but instead with curiosity, recognition, and empathy – to understand the ways in which you emotionally process your lived experience.

Through identifying and gently challenging narratives that you tell yourself about yourself, and the world around you, I will unburden you from that which no longer serves your authentic self – supporting your ability to self-right and live in a way that is present and intentional.

Philosophy

I do not view you as someone who is broken and in need of fixing, instead I understand that you are simply responding to, and coping with, the circumstances of your life up until this point.

You deserve to be listened to, to be respected, and to flourish. I am dedicated to providing you with the therapeutic space within which you can author a new chapter in your life; one in which you own yourself on a deeper level, and exist in a way which honours the fullness of your selfhood.

Is Person-Centred Therapy Right for Me?

Affirms your inherent worth; valuing authenticity, self-expression, and the drive toward wholeness.

Empowering

Supports you to access your inner wisdom; reclaiming your voice and restoring belief in your own sense of what’s right.

Non-directive

Allows you to lead from your own experiencing; fostering autonomy, trust, and lasting change.

My approach is characterised by a therapeutic relationship full of empathy, acceptance, and authenticity.

about ME

Quinn Harper-Thorpe, MBACP

I am an independent and fully qualified person-centred psychotherapist, registered with both the Person Centred Association and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My approach is grounded in nurturing and presence, shaped by a commitment to seeing my clients as more than their struggles or labels. I offer therapy to people who want to feel more like themselves again – or who are still trying to work out who that is. I’m especially drawn to working with those who feel deeply, think hard, or have been told they’re “too much”. Many of my clients have spent years hiding themselves to feel safe or accepted, and they come to me in the aftermath of having been misunderstood, diminished, and invalidated.

My certificates include a PGDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Salford as well as an undergraduate qualification in Philosophy from Durham University. Alongside private practice I’ve been a counsellor within NHS Manchester Talking Therapies, and a volunteer for various therapeutic listening services such as Samaritans and Mind.

What has stayed with me during my numerous roles isn’t just technique, but an enduring belief that people have a need to be witnessed – deeply and without judgement.

An Oasis in the Heart of the City

Located on the top floor at the end of a distinguished row of Grade II listed Georgian townhouses, my therapy room offers a peaceful retreat overlooking the tranquil St John’s Gardens.

Inspired by British art nouveau, the space is thoughtfully curated to blend warmth, comfort, and quiet sophistication; fostering an atmosphere that is about calm, focus, and connection.

Easily accessible on foot from Deansgate and St Peter’s Square tram stops – or by car with convenient paid street parking nearby – the location offers a rare combination of privacy and convenience. It’s a true retreat in the centre of the city, for those who value both wellbeing and discretion.

Client Testimonials

Thank you for listening without judgement, for helping me feel understood, and for helping me find the tools to navigate life’s challenges.

You truly have a gift for understanding and guiding others, and it’s clear you’re dedicated to what you do. Thank you for everything you’ve done.

I now have a deeper understanding of my emotions, and I can confidently say I feel equipped to navigate them with strength and clarity.
